Thursday Homecoming Catblogging

Not the most exuberant greeting, but I think Sam is pleased I'm home.
No dogblogging for a while: Cairo's been spending the week playing with the horses at Catamount Ranch so she wouldn't be bored with Stef working super long days during VPR's Pledge Drive.

Um...if Sam goes missing, whatever you do, DON'T look in my apartment.

A muted homecoming for sure -- no gleeful yips of greeting from Cairo? Bummer.

Oh, he'll let you know how glad he is . . . at 3:00 in the morning.

When my cat gives me a look like that, it means she's saying
"Food! Now! Now!"
(you can't hear the "food" part, but when she says "meow" it sounds remarkably like "now!")

"What are you doing upside down, Dad?"

watertiger - wouldn't you rather have a ferret? Regardless, if Sam says hello at 3AM, you're welcome to him.
gootch - Cairo will give me the "you never write, you never call" yodel when she gets home Sunday.
remek - the clue is when Sam's mouth is partially open. Here he's just confused, which is actually his default.
MB - zero gravity really messes me up.

(looking around to see if Athenae's in the room) ferret? eh, not so much. Sam? In a NYC second.

Sam is judging his distances for a leap to a railing, then to the keyboard below. The crowd quiets in anticipation of that first chord...
@#!$%^&*()!!
... or should I say that first cluster...

Mmmm. Thursday cat blogging for us famished in the political wasteland. Thanks.

Steve Bates: Heh! I didn't notice that at first. What made me laugh is that you reminded me that I once wrote a tune, in honor of a guy who used to post on Usenet, hawking his really horrid MIDI guitar compositions. I called it "Three-Legged Cat," because my in-joke to the crowd was that this dude's music sounded like a three-legged cat, trapped on top of a Casio. I can't find the mp3 file, but the lyrics went something like:
Give me a cardboard box
Give me a bag of speed
Add Casio and El Gato
It's all I'll ever need
...
I could never force a three-legged cat
To do anything like that
To do anything like that
.

Jeffraham - ROTFL! I hope the perp of those awful MIDI guitar pieces heard your song. I was a composition major in college for just long enough to understand why I should not be a composer; unfortunately, some people never do catch on to that fact.
As to three-legged cats, may Sam always, always have four!

Steve -- Heh, well, I dunno if he ever heard it, but I'm pretty sure he saw the lyrics (which are archived @ Google Groups). What made him particularly worthy of ridicule was his incessant crowing about how revolutionary his technique was, using only the analog-to-pitch feature of his guitar synth (IOW, not even using a hex pickup, making chords impossible). I mean, the guy was there, every day, asking people to download his "tunes." Hilarious. I don't like to bust on people's talent, but honestly, I've heard pots and pans dropped down a flight of stairs that was more musical.
As to cats, yes, Sam (and all cats) deserve to be quadripeds. :) As it is written...
